The UEF works towards a federal constitution for Europe. We know this is a gradual process, and will be achieved only on the basis of the Treaties of the European Union.

Using federalist methods to reach federal goals is important: we strongly support the idea and practice of the Conventions which drafted the Charter of Fundamental Rights in 2000 and the constitutional treaty in 2003.

UEF is campaigning for the European Parliament to initiate a new Convention in 2014-15 which will revise the Treaty of Lisbon where necessary. Top of our list of objectives is to make more flexible the entry into force provisions of the EU Treaties and to install a credible economic government of a fiscal union.

The European Federation should aim at maximum participation of citizens at all levels of government!
