EVENT | Freedom of Science in Hungary: Scientists under Pressure?
30 September 2022 | 19:00-20:00 (CET), Andrássy Universität Budapest, Lecture hall 1, Pollack Mihály tér 3., Budapest

We kindly invite you to the panel debate “Academic Freedom in Hungary: Scientists under Pressure?“ on 30 September at 7.00 p.m. You are invited to participate in the hybrid event either in person in the Andrássy University In Budapest or online. Participants joining the event in person are invited to a small reception following the panel debate.

Reforms in Hungary have been criticised for undermining the academic freedom in the country. The panel debate wants to discuss these allegations with researchers working in Hungary against the background of their daily work. International cooperation is essential for academic freedom and science. Therefore, the panel debate also addresses the question of how cross-border academic cooperation within the European research area can support academic freedom and researchers in Hungary.

The event is jointly organised by the Andrássy University Budapest, the University of Passau, the Union of European Federalists and the Union of European Federalists Hungary. The event is kindly co-funded by the European Union. Only the panellist are responsible for the content of the debate.
