Federalist Seminar in Desenzano del Garda
From April 29 to May 1 a regional youth seminar on "Federalism and the unity of Europe", now in its fifteenth edition, was held in Desenzano del Garda, on the premises of the beautiful “Palazzo del Turismo”. The event was attended by over fifty students mainly from the high-school institutes of Lombardy
The project was promoted by the Lombardy Regional Centres of the European Federalist Movement and the Young European Federalists, the Association of European Teachers (AEDE) of Pavia and Milan, in collaboration with the Mario and Valeria Albertini Foundation, and the Mario Albertini Center for Studies on Federalism. The participants, from Pavia, Milan, Erba, Monza, Verona and Trento attended eleven lectures, and then, divided into study groups, led by several members of JEF Pavia, Milan and Erba, discussed about European federalism, peace, the economic and financial crisis, the global problems related to the lack of food and energy, security, culture, youth policy and the need to revive the commitment for Europe. The young participants took also part in a public action in the streets of Desenzano, interviewing people about Europe, in the framework of the campaign for the European federation.
